The local track and field season has wrapped up with the Tasmanian State Open Championships being held in Launceston during the first weekend in March.
The Championships were heavily hit due to the National Junior Championships being held the following week. None the less, OVA was well represented with some outstanding results. The open men’s 4x100m (John Howe, Luke Whitney, Mark Nichols and Jacob Despard) knocked off SB for the first time in 8 years and backed on the Sunday to take the double, winning the 4x400m (Callum Stevens, Mark Nichols, Gus Tomlinson-Smith, Jacob Despard). A huge thankyou to Lucy Carter and Kaela Beechey for travelling up on Saturday afternoon to allow Lilly and Maddy to have a run in the open 4x100. The girls ran out of their skins and came away with the bronze medal!
