The OVA Southern Saints wish to advise that the Race to the Taste will not be held during the 2019 New Year’s period.
This decision has not been made lightly. OVA has been involved with the Race to the Taste for over 15 years now, including the organisation on the day, the many months of preparation in the lead up as well as the work following the event. This is all performed by a small, hardworking committee.
We have been proud to facilitate an event that is incredibly well supported by the community each year. Aligning with the values of our club, it is also one that promotes a healthy, active lifestyle.
The increasing costs of facilitating a fun run in the state, and the requirements placed on not for profit organisations, have contributed to this decision. This is evidenced by the reduced number and changing landscape of public running events over the past few years.
While the Race will not be held during the upcoming period, the OVA Southern Saints intend on working hard over the next twelve months to sign a major sponsor and facilitate the race in the future.
The club wishes to thank the sponsors and donation partners from previous years for their support, as well as the Hobart City Council for their assistance; as we hope that we can hold the race again during the 2020 Festival.
Any queries can be made to info@ovasouthernsaints.com.au.
(Still want to keep active during summer? Anyone who has participated and wants to continue their running is always welcome to join the OVA Southern Saints for the current track and field season!)
