The state SATIS competition held at the domain athletics centre last Saturday was met with trying conditions.
Many OVA athletes competed on the day, battling through wind and heavy rain to take on the best school athletes from around the state.
The event, thatis held annually just prior to the official start of the new athletics season, is a great opportunity for athletes to blow out the cobwebs and see how winter training has paid off.
A number of our younger OVA athletes competed on the day with several outstanding performances. Many athletes were successful in winning their events, including Jack Lewis and Bec Kovacic in the 200m, Torin Jones and Bec Revill in the 800m, Bayley Campbell in hurdles and Rob Elkerton and Jamie Laurance in the 1500m.
Two of the outstanding performances of the day included Ryan Copper, who took out the open boys 100m, long jump and triple jump and Kaela Beechey who took out the open girl’s discus and Javelin, as well as finishing up 2nd in the shot put. There was an overwhelming OVA representation across all age groups on the day and it was fantastic to see so many great performances, especially in the relays at the end of the day.
Well done to all those who took part!
We also say a huge congrats to Lydia who starred on the day, competing in a range of events and is in for a big season! Thanks for the recap Lyds.
